Standing at the Wheel

Since 1980, Lee has released eleven albums/CDs. The recordings are aired on radio programs across North America, where they have consistently been ranked among the favorites of DJs and listeners. Sing Out! Magazine has published words and music to four songs recorded by Murdock, and he is featured in a "Spotlight" in the Fall 95 issue of the magazine.

In addition to his twelve CDs, Murdock is also a contributor to the book, Windjammers: Songs of the Great Lakes Sailors, and the new CD/Songbook for educators, Lake Rhymes, Folk Songs of the Great Lakes Region.

 

Lee Murdock's eleventh CD, Standing at the Wheel, includes 14 maritime songs depicting life on the Great Lakes, from the days of sail to contemporary 21st century events and issues. Two original guitar instrumentals, three original songs by Lee Murdock, three by other contemporary songwriters, and five from the Ivan Walton Collection at the University of Michigan.

Murdock is a collaborator on a new book of traditional songs, Windjammers: Songs of the Great Lakes Sailors, just published by Wayne State University Press. This book contains nearly 80 traditional songs from the Great Lakes that were collected from 1930-1950’s.
